NEWS RELEASE Westchester, NY, March 19, 2002 - The Blue Book of Building and Construction and Plan Express today announced a strategic marketing alliance providing BB-Bid network users with a dynamic, online solution to expedite their document management and print distribution procedures. Memphis-based Plan Express will power "The BB-Bid Online Plan Room," a component of The Blue Book’s leading online vendor, bid, procurement and now document management system. Plan Express will scan and digitize BB-Bid users’ printed plans, specifications, bid documents and addendums (or upload digital files) and host online viewing for the users’ invited vendors. Provided Plan Express is contracted for printing and distribution services, there is no additional set-up or hosting fee for this service. "The Blue Book is very excited to be working with Plan Express," said Ed Haege, BB-Bid Product Manager. "They understand the importance of providing a complete online plan room that enables a vendor to view all project information so they can quickly and easily decide whether they can or cannot bid. The combination of BB-Bid, powered by The Blue Book database, and Plan Express, powered by FedEx delivery, gives our users a significant competitive edge." Due to their close proximity to the Federal Express hub, located at the Memphis Airport, Plan Express can accept print orders up to 8:00 p.m. (Central Time) each night and guarantee delivery by 10:00 a.m. the next business day. Although BB-Bid users will have the option to select their preferred courier within the "BB-Bid Online Plan Room," print orders placed with Federal Express will automatically be entered into their order and tracking system. From within BB-Bid, users will be able to electronically track the delivery of a set of plans and specs from the time it leaves the Plan Express office until the time it arrives at the vendor’s location. Plan Express will also update "plan holder" information so the user can generate reports within BB-Bid to identify who purchased plans and who had received the current revisions and addendums. According to DeWayne Adamson, President of Plan Express, "The relationship between BB-Bid and Plan Express will not only give BB-Bid users the industry’s simplest fulfillment and distribution system, it will also allow the user to extend the work-day and spend more time on BB-Bid to find that all-important sub who could ultimately get them the project!"
